ABOUT
Sam Wesley Schmidt comes from a ranching family in Johnson County, where he learned and worked many trades including cowboying, farming, and landscaping. Sam was born in Cleburne, Texas and attended school in Rio Vista, Texas, where he partnered with his childhood friend to open and operate a landscaping business until they graduated high school in 2015. He went on to graduate from Baylor University in 2019 with a degree in International Studies and a minor in Entrepreneurship. During his time at Baylor, he also joined the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and traveled with the university’s Spanish department to minister children in Eastern Spain.
Sam enrolled at Baylor Law School in 2019 and graduated in 2022. During law school, he worked for Judge Kevin Yeary at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and completed Baylor’s five-month Practice Court—the second ranked trial advocacy program in America at the time.
Sam was licensed by the State Bar of Texas in 2022. Before joining Lummus, Hallman, Pritchard & Baker, P.C., he worked as a construction attorney in DFW, where his practice primarily focused on the removal or filing of Chapter 53 mechanic’s liens (construction liens) and drafting contracts for both residential and commercial projects. In addition to construction, he now practices law in a variety of estate planning, probate, and real estate matters. Sam enjoys hunting, playing music, exploring National Parks, and river kayaking.
